Two business men shaking hands in a board room The Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) has once again expanded its team to enhance and further develop its technical and member services.

The ASFP’s Technical & Regulatory Affairs team has been enlarged with the promotion of Dr Andrew Taylor to Head of Technical and the appointment of Stuart Southall to the Technical Officer role.

Stuart has over 18 years of experience in the construction industry as a Technical and Sales Manager. He possesses a strong technical knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of specifications in various markets. Specialising in passive fire protection, mainly walls, ceilings, steel and concrete protection, Stuart joins the Association from ASFP member Encon, where he was previously a Regional Fire Protection Manager.

With an in‑depth knowledge of both active and passive fire protection, Stuart is keen to raise fire safety awareness and is delighted to join the ASFP Technical team. He is looking forward to further developing ASFP publications, playing an active role at events and helping to answer technical queries.

The ASFP also welcomes Rebecca Barber to the team. Becky will be providing maternity cover for Sona Chandi, as Finance & Membership Executive. Becky is an experienced AAT Level 2 qualified Accounts Assistant who enjoys working as part of a team. Having previously worked as an Accounts and Office Manager for Sentinel Gas Systems, Becky brings a wide range of administrative, accounting, and problem‑solving skills which will help to further enrich the ASFP’s member services.

Welcoming them to the ASFP team, ASFP Managing Director Mike Ward declared: “We are thrilled to welcome Stuart and Becky to the ASFP team. The expansion of the Association’s highly respected Technical & Regulatory Affairs team is long overdue. I congratulate Andy on his new enhanced role and am pleased to supply additional resources to enable us to further expand our technical services. Stuart’s wide fire safety and construction industry experience will provide a welcome boost to the technical support we can provide.

“We are also delighted to welcome Becky to the administrative team. Her strong team‑working experience and proven versatility make her an ideal fit for this varied role and will ensure the ASFP can continue to support our members with enhanced professional services.”
