Tilbury Douglas Completes Construction Of New Oncology Ward At Royal Preston Hospital

Ribblesdale Oncology Ward ribbon cutting ceremony Tilbury Douglas, a leading UK building, infrastructure, engineering and fitout company, has successfully completed the construction of the new Ribblesdale Oncology Ward at Royal Preston Hospital on behalf of Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Partially funded by the Rosemere Cancer Foundation’s 20 Year Anniversary Appeal, the new 24-bed ward provides a more aesthetically pleasing and comfortable environment for cancer patients and their visitors from throughout Lancashire and South Cumbria.



Reception area at Ribblesdale Oncology Ward As part of the project, Tilbury Douglas pledged to support the Foundation to raise additional funds outside of the budget. This included funding and installing the entertainment package consisting of nine televisions and a games system. The scheme also delivered a social value return on investment of 46%, above the industry average, including 84% local spend and 100% spent with SMEs.

Former patient Mike Richardson was given the honour of cutting the ribbon on 22nd October to declare the ward officially open.

The Royal Preston Hospital provides a full range of services and has around 700 beds, operating theatre complex, outpatient suites and education facilities.
