  • Mitie logoMitie has awarded an extra day of holiday to over 25,000 Mitie colleagues as a thank you for their work during COVID-19
  • A number of new benefits have also been introduced to ensure Mitie employees have access to the health and wellbeing support they need to deal with the Coronavirus pandemic
  • The new benefits include access to free virtual GP consultations and flu vaccinations

Mitie’s frontline heroes have been working tirelessly to keep the UK running during the pandemic – cleaning supermarkets and hospitals; setting-up drive-in test centres and Nightingale Hospitals; and maintaining production lines in pharmaceutical plants. As a thank you for their efforts, Mitie has awarded an extra day of holiday to more than 25,000 frontline non-management colleagues to enable them to take some additional time out to rest and recuperate. In addition to this, Mitie has introduced a number of industry-leading benefits to ensure that all its employees have access to the health and wellbeing support they need and to give them peace of mind during the Coronavirus pandemic.

The new benefits include free access to a virtual GP service for all permanent and fixed term employees. Provided via Medical Solutions, the service will ensure colleagues receive the health and wellbeing support they need. The service is also available to all members of employees’ households and offers unlimited GP consultations by phone or video during their employment with Mitie.

As the winter approaches, all Mitie employees – that are not eligible for the UK Government’s extended flu vaccination programme – will be offered free flu vaccinations. Those entitled to the Government’s vaccination programme will receive guidance on how to access the vaccination scheme.

Mitie is also providing life assurance for all permanent and fixed term employees to give them peace of mind during this pandemic. In the unfortunate case that the benefit is needed, a minimum lump sum payment of £10,000 will be paid to the employee’s nominated beneficiary.

Jasmine Hudson, HR Director, Group and Specialist Services, Mitie, said:

“These new benefits are a token of our appreciation to our colleagues who have been working tirelessly to keep Mitie and the UK running during this Coronavirus pandemic. We want to say a huge thank you to our people, whether they are working on the frontline, or in offices, kitchens or living rooms. With these new, industry-leading, benefits we’re doing everything we can to look after our colleagues during these challenging times.”
