PTSG’s Market-Leading Lightning Protection Services

PTSG Electrical Services Ltd is one of the five business divisions of Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG). Its engineers operate all over the UK designing, installing, testing, inspecting and maintaining lightning and surge protection systems, as well as specialist earthing solutions, at buildings owned or operated by clients in all industry sectors.

Lightning strikes the ground over 300,000 times a year in the UK alone. Without proper protection, buildings are at risk from structural damage. More importantly, their users are at risk of injury. A regulations-compliant lightning conductor system provides the vital protection needed.

Depending on your needs, PTSG’s expert design team can provide either a standard or bespoke solution. We can also offer layout drawings to meet architect, consultant and contract engineer specifications. All new installations are undertaken by our experienced and thoroughly trained engineers based across the UK.

We also provide additional services when ‘rope access’ equipment is required.

Once a lightning protection system is installed, it must be professionally tested at least once a year to ensure it is capable of conducting a potential lightning strike to a safe earthing point. This ensures compliance with the Electricity at Work Act 1989 and BS EN 62305.

PTSG’s engineers are qualified to NVQ Level 2/3 and undertake detailed testing and inspection of completed installations. This includes verifying the installation is in accordance with the correct specification and compliant with all current legislation.

PTSG Works Across NHS Wales Estate

St Woolas Hospital, where PTSG has completed work for the NHS

PTSG Electrical Services Ltd recently completed a range of specialist electrical services at 13 sites for NHS Wales.

NHS Wales (Welsh: GIG Cymru) is the publicly funded healthcare system in Wales, and one of the four systems which make up the National Health Service in the United Kingdom.

Following the pre-legislative Welsh devolution referendum of 18 September 1997, Royal Assent was given to the Government of Wales Act 1998. This created the National Assembly for Wales, to which overall responsibility for NHS Wales was devolved in 1999. Responsibility, therefore, for NHS Wales was passed to the Welsh Government under devolution in 1999 and has since then been the responsibility of the Welsh Minister for Health and Social Services.

Engineers from PTSG Electrical Services Ltd delivered testing and inspection as well as repairs at the following sites:

  • County Hospital, Talygarn
  • County Hospital, Ty Siriol
  • Llanfrechra Grange Hospital (Laundry Building)
  • Nevill Hall Hospital, Brecon Road Abergavenny; and Blocks 1 & 2
  • Royal Gwent Hospital (Opthalmology)
  • St Cadoc’s Hospital, Newport
  • St Woolos Hospital
  • The Grange University Hospital, Cwmbran
  • Ysbyty Aneurin Bevan, Ebbw Vale
  • Ysbyty Ystard Fawr, Hangoed
  • Ysbyty’r Tri Chwm Hospital & Switch House, Ebbw Vale

The Director of Estates and Facilities at NHS Wales (Aneurin Bevan University Health Board) sent a letter expressing his gratitude for the support of the team at PTSG Electrical Services Ltd. He praised their responsiveness and commitment to patient care during this time of acute need.

Excellent customer service is what PTSG strives for above all else – always underpinned by the highest standards of safety.
