First Response Group Security Officers Win Celebrated Security Officer Of Distinction Award

The winners with their award Three Security Officers from security and risk management specialists First Response Group (FRG) have won a prestigious Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS) Pacesetters Security Officer of Distinction Award for their exceptional response to a road traffic accident earlier this year.

The Security Officer of Distinction Awards are organised by the ACS Pacesetters, an organisation promoting security companies who are SIA approved contractors that currently have a score in the top 15% of all accredited companies, celebrating front-line security staff who have carried out exceptional actions whilst on duty.

Nikki Roberts, Carl Whittock and John Brigden from FRG all received the highly coveted Security Officer of Distinction Award at an awards luncheon held yesterday (May 25) at Windsor Racecourse, attended by security industry professionals and security service end users.

Nikki, Carl and John were chosen by the judges as one of the 12 award recipients from around 100 entries for their heroic actions while on duty as Mobile Security Officers ensuring security at a critical HS2 location for FRG’s client EKFB, a joint venture that brings together four leading civil engineering and construction companies Eiffage, Kier, Ferrovial Construction and BAM Nuttall.

The officers were alerted to a serious road traffic accident on public roads close to their location and arrived at the crash site 20 minutes before the ambulance services. Due to a FRG and EKFB security rapid response initiative to ensure all Mobile Security Officers working on the HS2 project are upskilled to First Responder On Scene (FROS) training, the Officers had the advanced skills required to provide immediate emergency care to members of the public trapped in their vehicles until the blue light services arrived.

Leeds based First Response Group provide specialist security, risk and facilities management solutions to private and public sector clients across a wide range of industries and is ranked in the top 15% of firms accredited by the Security Industry Authority’s ‘Approved Contractor Scheme’.

Simon Alderson, FRG CEO said “We are extremely proud of Nikki, Carl and John and we are thrilled their outstanding actions have been recognised by these prestigious industry awards.

“This accident happened on public roads outside of their assigned project, but our Officers did not hesitate to respond and used their advanced FROS training provided by EKFB to ensure the safety of members of the public involved in the crash and potentially saving lives.

“They are shining examples of our employees living FRG’s values of innovation, professionalism and excellence.”
