PTSG Delivers Structural Strengthening At Glassworks

A PTSG rope access operative working at height Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has delivered series of remedial works at a glassworks in Scotland following a structural inspection. This was achieved through the use of rope access and steeplejack techniques.

The Scotland glassworks inspection revealed some serious issues with the 40‑metre sand silos. It was revealed that holes had developed through the steel. This problem required immediate over‑plating to stop the product fragmenting – as well as to strengthen the silo.

Employing a combination of rope access and steeplejack techniques, engineers from PTSG Building Access Specialists Ltd rolled steel plates to the circumference of the silo, where they welded the weak areas to effect a repair. This will allow the silo to continue to be used safely for the foreseeable future, subject to periodic inspections. The photograph shows PTSG’s rope access coded welder enjoying his work.

PTSG’s IRATA‑trained engineers use industrial rope equipment to service buildings and structures of all kinds. These equipment are built in different eras for hugely diverse functions. Rope access equipment has the great advantage of being lightweight and is therefore easily mobilised on site. This enables PTSG’s engineers to install and remove all equipment quickly, causing minimal disruption and saving valuable time.
