NG Bailey Apprentices from 2023 NG Bailey, the UK’s largest independent engineering and services business, has launched the application process for its nationwide apprenticeship programme as it looks to kick‑start successful careers and nurture fresh talent.

The company will be offering apprenticeships across a number of different disciplines, with around 70 vocational opportunities including electrical, mechanical and technical specialist roles.

The scheme also includes a range of business‑based roles, offering multiple opportunities for people to gain a holistic understanding of the construction industry whilst embarking on an exciting career.

As part of the programme, the company will be continuing its IT Services apprenticeship scheme following the success of the business unit’s first year. The scheme will continue to nurture the next generation of UK digital talent, offering two degree apprenticeships in internal auditing and digital and technology solutions.

NG Bailey has a long history of delivering successful apprenticeship schemes, having welcomed over 6,000 apprentices to the company since 1934. Many of the company’s apprentices have gone on to win national and industry awards and progress into senior management positions.

Rob Smith, Group HR Director, said: “At NG Bailey we know how important a role apprentices play not only in our business, but in shaping the future of the wider construction industry. Our industry‑leading approach develops the behaviours, skills, knowledge and experience our apprentices need to build a successful career.

“Many of our senior leadership team started their career journey as apprentices. It is this clear progression path as well as the opportunity for apprentices to work alongside industry‑leading professionals who started in the same place as them which drives applications year on year. We look forward to welcoming our latest cohort in 2024 as they embark on an exciting career in this ever‑changing sector.”

Holly Chapman, Quantity Surveyor Engineering Apprentice commented on her own experiences within the business: “NG Bailey is renowned for its apprenticeship scheme and the first‑hand experience you get from it really attracted me to the programme.

“In my role so far, I’ve had the opportunity to earn whilst I learn the trade, gaining essential industry knowledge. I’ve also discovered new career routes and built valuable relationships in an environment that champions my professional and personal development.”
