PTSG Sprinkler Installation Stops Fire Before Handover

UK Sprinklers Ltd, part of PTSG Fire Solutions Ltd, has successfully handed over a residential sprinkler system at the Springside development by Moda Living.

Located at Fountainbridge in Edinburgh, Scotland’s first Moda Living development is a £215m residential block of 276 apartments. It was built on the former Fountainbridge brewery and includes a cinema, private dining room, communal lounges and spaces to work from home.

Just prior to the hand over, there was a case of arson in one of the apartments that was nearly completed – someone entered the site and set fire to the dust sheets covering the carpet. The sprinkler system activated a single sprinkler, which not only suppressed the fire but extinguished it. Other than making the carpet wet, the apartment was wholly intact; this saved a lot of time and anguish for the developer.
