ASFP Releases New And Updated Technical Publications

ASFP Technical Guidance Documents The Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) published several documents in 2023, these included new and updated Advisory Notes (ANs) and Technical Guidance Documents (TGDs). Two new ANs were published and another four updated.

AN 32 covers the Association’s position on the use of BS 476‑based fire resistance testing on Eurocode designed structures. This new AN considers the relationship between design codes, test methods and the building regulations.

Simon Lunt, new head of business development at BESA The Building Engineering Services Association (BESA) has appointed Simon Lunt as its first head of business development as part of a wider strategic review.

Lunt brings extensive and varied experience to this new role having started his career in the chemical industry in Scandinavia with Forchem Oy before moving into the health & safety sector covering the UK construction, manufacturing, and facilities management sectors at Arco.

Three vegetarian meals Marking Veganuary 2024, Sodexo has announced another year‑on‑year increase in the consumption of meat‑free meals.

Analysis of over 2.7 million meals sold across 285 of its UK and Ireland client sites in 2023* reveals that 11% were vegan or vegetarian. This represents an incremental increase on the 10% reported in the previous year.
